Ohmega-Ply®is an ideal design for applications
requiring high resistor density or where the electronic package size is
critical.

I) INTRODUCTION
A) PURPOSE
The intent of this manual is to provide the information required for
users and designers of printed wiring boards to incorporate OHMEGA-PLY®
resistors in their applications. In addition, it also assists the users
in understanding some of the physical and thermal characteristics of the
OHMEGA-PLY® RESISTOR-CONDUCTOR MATERIAL (RCM) so that their designs
can achieve maximum stability and performance.
B) EXPLANATION OF OHMEGA-PLY®
FIG.1

OHMEGA-PLY® is a thin film nickel alloy electrodeposited onto copper
foil. That product Ohmega-Ply® RCM (RESISTOR-CONDUCTOR MATERIAL) is
then laminated to a dielectric material and subtractively processed to produce
planar resistors. Because of its thin film nature (approximately 0.1--0.4
micron thick), it can be buried within layers without increasing the thickness
of the board or occupying any surface space like discrete or axial-lead
resistors. |

C) TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
- Digital electronics for pull-up/pull-down on open collectors or gate
inputs
- Line terminators
- Opto-electronics, for LED current limiting
- Switch pad potentiometers and power dividers
- Microwave attenuators and stripline designs
- Parallel terminating resistors fabricated into voltage planes of ECL
circuitry (Please go to New to the Site to see
the demonstrations)
- Series terminating resistors for high speed CMOS applications
- Isolation resistors for burn-in boards
These applications have been used for computers, calculators, test instrumentation,
medical electronics, communications equipment, consumer electronics, avionics,
and other similar applications. |
